It’s time for Edinburgh Fringe 2025, and with it, our annual feature series! This year, we’re celebrating the special, unique Fringe moments — the ones that feel like pure MAGIC

By Ted Milligan

So Ted, are you excited for your Fringe debut this year?

Oh yes absolutely! A debut is a super exciting thing to do and I’m really proud of the show. Martin Willis, my director, and I have worked really hard on it and I think it’s funny — wait sorry one sec er yeah sure I’m up for that… cool, yeah the card in the middle — but yeah, it’s also a very nerve-wracking thing because you put a lot into it emotionally, but I’m excited!

Why this show?

Haha well I’ve asked myself that but that’s not — no that’s not my card sorry — helpful now I guess! I love football and I think that it’s a show that conveys why – wait that’s not it either, oh see he hasn’t got it, he’s messed the trick up — I love the sport so much. Hopefully an audience leaves with a bit of that love in them.

What is it about football you find so funny?

You’ll have to see the show! No, but seriously – I told you that’s not my card! Wait no way, hang on why are you taking your sock off? No way! Oh my God! Yes! That is my card! That’s amazing! Incredible, that’s unbelievable! — I think football fans are so — man that was amazing, wow — tribal and passionate about their clubs. They just view the world in such a stupidly biased way, which I find very funny.

Is this show autobio sorry, er the ball is in the middle cup.

No, it's in the right cup.

Definitely the middle.

Wait there was definitely a ball in there!! We both saw it right?

Yeah! Where did it go??

It’s got to be in one of them!

What do you mean check my pocket?

Check it! Check it! Check it!

I am! I am! Oh My God!! How did that get in there!! Man that’s so impressive, I love stuff like that graphical in any way?

Yes it is. It’s a show based on my own experiences of football and following the club I support with — no sorry mate I don’t have any change — my dad.

Ted Milligan: United is running from July 30th-August 24th, 9:45pm, at the Pleasance Courtyard (Bunker Three). Tickets here
