13 comedy shows you should book to see NOW!

What’s this? A little look inside the first ever LMAOnaise newspaper? Yes! Imagine this webpage is page FOUR of a physical newspaper you are holding in your hands. If that feels nice, why not order one now?

We simply couldn’t do a LMAOnaise newspaper without a list of comedy recommendations. So here’s a sample of what, and who, you should be seeing over the next few months across the UK (also when, where and why).

Molly McGuinness: Slob (work-in-progress)

May 3rd, Machynlleth Comedy Festival; May 16th, Cultplex, Manchester. Tickets/more dates

A work in progress from returning super-legend Molly about Meat Loaf, working in a sex shop and being in a coma.

Crizards: This Means War

Image: Rebecca Need-Menear

Jun 5-8th, Soho Theatre, London. Tickets/more dates

No one does total joyful narrative silliness like Crizards. Eddy Hare and Will Rowland bring their wartime spoof back with loads of surprisingly catchy songs (one of which I still hum sometimes).

Siân Docksey: Pole Yourself Together!

Image: Millie Robson

Jun 21-22nd, Soho Theatre, London. Tickets/more dates

Dread! Seagulls! Pole-dancing! It’s the holy triumvirate of comedy, didn’t you know? Siân Docksey is bringing back the show that solidified her as the most impressive comedian out there.

Fool’s Moon on tour

May 15th-16th, The Wardrobe Bristol; May 24th, Brighton Fringe. Tickets/more dates

A plague is spreading throughout the land: a dance plague. And only Fool’s Moon can save you, or become your ultimate doom (by making you dance). Performed by clowns Paulina Lenoir, Lachlan Werner, Laurie Luxe, Ella The Great and a local performer in each city upon which they descend.

Jeremy Segway: A Life Out of Balance

May 24-25th, Soho Theatre, London. Tickets/more dates

The Duncan Brothers are going where no comedy brothers have ever gone before: around the stage on segways.

Chris Cantrill: Easily Swayed (work-in-progress)

Jun 4th, Fabio’s, Durham; Jun 13th, Museum of Comedy, London; Jun 21st, Gilsland; Jul 23rd, the Witham, Durham. Tickets/more dates

One of the funniest boys there is, Chris Cantrill has a new hour about an unlikely friendship and a reunion gone awry.

Shelf: Teenage Men

Image: Matt Crockett

On tour until Jun 22nd in Salford, Bath, Brighton, Farnham, Bristol, New Milton, Hull and Winchester. Tickets/more dates

Come for the two lesbians in a trench coat, stay for the songs and the personal growth: Double act Shelf have left behind being mistaken for teenage boys, now they’re teenage men.

Lachlan Werner: Voices of Evil

On tour from Jun 19th-Jul 11th in Brighton, Glasgow, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Tickets/more dates

Simultaneously the most accomplished and unhinged ventriloquy-comedy exorcism you’ve ever attended. Bring offerings for the ritual lest you be possessed.

Marjolein Robertson: Marj

Image: Trudy Stade

On tour until 17th in Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol and Shetland. Tickets/more dates

Your last chance to see this show which took the Fringe by storm last year. Marjolein is one of the funniest stand-ups around.

Erika Ehler: I Got Some Dope Ass Memories With People That I'll Never F*ck With Again (work-in-progress)

May 7th, Top Secret London; May 13th, Covent Garden London; May 25th, Boathouse Cambridge; May 31st, Weston-Super-Mare; Jun 17th, Durham; Jul 21st, Brighton Komedia. Tickets/more dates

Erika is all around the country working on her new show, with a legendary title. It’s about “what it’s like to be young, hot and yet so alone”. Erika’s vibe is flawless so we’re on board.

Alison Spittle: Soup

On tour until May 24th in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leicester, Brighton, Guildford, Norwich, Leeds and Liverpool. Tickets/more dates

The only person to whom I will defer to on soup expertise, Alison Spittle is the ultimate storyteller with the natural charm of a pal having a chat.

Rosa Garland: Primal Bog (work-in-progress)

May 25th, Brighton; Jun 14th, Omnibus Theatre, London. Tickets/more dates

Rosa Garland, who has spent much of the past two years as a salad, is back with a new show and it’s the year of messy bog-based cabaret — you heard it here first.

Kemah Bob: Miss Fortunate (work-in-progress)

May 5th, Machynlleth Comedy Festival; May 26th, Wells Comedy Festival; May 27-29th, Brighton Fringe; Jun 5th, Always Be, London; Jul 20th, Bedford Fringe. Tickets/more dates

Huge news — Kemah’s got a new show. The Femmes of Colour Comedy Club host is getting ready for their big debut with a bunch of WIPs you’d be a fool to miss.
